Welcome to the Website James Harker began his musical education under the tutorage of Dr David Cooper, Organist and Master of the Choristers at Malvern Priory Church. He later spent time at Newcastle University and Newcastle Cathedral, studying with Scott Farrell; Michael Haynes at Hexham Abbey, and was Assistant Organist at Doncaster Minster. James has given recitals and concerts across much of the North of England and is in demand as an organist and choral conductor. He has taken part in broadcasts on BBC Radio, appeared on television and performed with some of the UK’s leading musicians. As an accompanist, he has performed at many of the UK’s Cathedrals and Greater Parish Churches. In June of 2008, James took up his present position as the 4th Director of Music at St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, often referred to as the “Cathedral” of the Colne Valley. He combines this with his full time work as an organ consultant at Makin Organs near Manchester. Having been involved with various CD recordings, James’ debut solo organ CD "Sounds of Marsden" is now available at £12 including p&p. As well as being James’ first solo CD, it will also be the premiere recording of the historic J J Binns organ of Marsden Parish Church. To order a copy, please click here. James is available for concerts in the UK and Europe, and currently has some spaces for organ pupils. For all enquiries, please click here.
